N.O.R.E.‘s career has gone through a number of different phases already, from the early, Neptunes-soundtracked success as Noreaga to the Reggaeton fling as N.O.R.E. in the mid ’00s, but now his catalog has entered a new chapter. In a recent interview with MTV, the Queens MC announced that he has changed his rap name to P.A.P.I., an acronym for Power Always Proves Intelligence. “My name in Lefrak City and my name in Queens is actually P.A.P.I., it’s not even N.O.R.E,” he explained.

Within 48 hours of the news, P.A.P.I. has already blessed his fans with two new records. The first, “Tadow,” is an all-star collaboration with mainstream heavy-hitters French Montana, 2 Chainz and Pusha T, and sufficiently ticks the box as a contemporary street anthem. Meanwhile, the second (and our personal favorite), “Built Pyramids,” draws inspiration from the Golden Age to craft a funky, nostalgic jam with fellow Queens vet, Large Professor–their first collaboration together.

Both tracks will feature on P.A.P.I.’s Student Of The Game album, arriving later this year.
